Child Safety and CSAE Standards – LITT

Published at: https://home.thelittapp.com/safety

At LITT, the safety and wellbeing of children and young people is our highest priority. Our platform has a strict 13+ age restriction, and we do not tolerate any form of Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation (CSAE).

We operate in full compliance with Australian law, including the Online Safety Act 2021, and we cooperate with the eSafety Commissioner and law enforcement to detect, remove, and report CSAE-related content or behaviour.

Age Restriction

LITT is intended for users aged 13 years and older.

  • Age declaration during sign-up
  • Detection of accounts suspected to be underage
  • Immediate action for any confirmed violation

Prohibited Content

LITT strictly prohibits all forms of abuse or exploitation, including child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), and the following types of content:

  • Violence or depictions of violence (including graphical or animated violence)
  • Bullying, threatening behaviour, or teasing images
  • Sexual violence, depictions of sexual violence, or animated sexual content
  • Nudity or partial nudity, regardless of consent
  • Discriminatory, hateful, vulgar, obscene, or sexually suggestive content (including via GIFs, emojis, or text)
  • Profanity, abusive or aggressive language in any language
  • Posting of personal details (yours or others’)
  • Sharing of confidential data such as credit card or account details
  • Advertising not suitable for under-18s (e.g. alcohol, tobacco)
  • Deceptive, misleading, or unlawful content
  • Links to content that violates LITT’s Terms of Use

Detecting and Preventing CSAE

We take a proactive and multilayered approach to CSAE prevention, including:

  • AI and keyword filters to detect grooming and suspicious behaviour
  • Image scanning and hash-matching technologies to detect potential CSAM
  • Trained human moderators who review flagged content
  • In-app reporting tools for users to flag inappropriate behaviour

If CSAE content is identified, we:

  • Immediately remove the content
  • Restrict or ban the involved account(s)
  • Escalate internally to our Trust & Safety team
  • Report to the eSafety Commissioner and/or Australian Federal Police (AFP) without delay

Legal Compliance

We operate in line with the following Australian legislation:

  • Online Safety Act 2021
  • Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth) – offences relating to child exploitation material
  • Mandatory reporting via eSafety.gov.au/report
  • Collaboration with the AFP (Australian Federal Police) where needed
  • When applicable, we also submit reports to NCMEC (USA) for international cases

User Reporting and Support

Users can report:

  • Grooming or predatory behaviour
  • Inappropriate messages or content
  • Suspected underage users
  • Any CSAE-related concerns

All reports are reviewed by trained moderators within 24 hours, with CSAE-related reports prioritised and often handled within hours.

Staff Training and Safety Culture

All relevant LITT staff complete CSAE training, which includes:

  • Recognising grooming tactics and risky behaviour
  • How to escalate suspected CSAE internally
  • Using trauma-informed review techniques
  • Access to wellbeing support during and after exposure to disturbing material
